Today’s technology landscape is changing faster than the latest smartphone models. We have a multitude of software giants, each bending over backwards, all aiming to be a ‘one-stop shop’ for users. It feels like a competitive relay race, only the baton never stops moving!
But while they are busy playing their games, some important issues start to creep into our minds. Image scaling and growth, for example. They call it Blitzscaling – it’s like trying to put together a 1000 piece puzzle in a short time, and we all know how ‘fun’ that is. Then there’s security. As we rush to the finish line, safety protocols are sometimes overlooked, and that leaves us all feeling a little exposed.
And then there’s privacy, the elephant in the room. In the frenzy of market domination, user data protection often ends in failure. Seems like a pretty steep price to pay for some personalized advertising, right?
Don’t forget our tireless workforce. Our team is expected to be able to overcome challenges with limited resources and an increasing workload. Fatigue is the norm and not the exception. Is it just me or does this race to the top seem a bit overwhelming?
What about innovation? If a project does not promise a cash return, it is often abandoned. Our brilliant, potentially game-changing ideas were left to chance. Suddenly, we are more gatekeepers than pioneers.
“But let’s switch gears for a moment – what if we took a different route? Imagine a world filled with smaller technology organizations, each focused on doing one thing really well. This is not just a fly-by-night startup, but a sustainable business with a long-term vision. Imagine a technology ecosystem rooted in ‘co-opetition’, an interesting mix of cooperation and competition, where everyone has their own niche to fill.
Under these conditions, we can overcome many of the internal conflicts that are holding us back at the moment. We can build a healthier work environment and provide solutions that truly meet customer needs. And yes, we can spark groundbreaking innovation that is no longer limited by short-term profits. Is being at the forefront of the industry really the main goal of our organization and the digital world? Or could a collection of smaller, more specialized organizations better serve our collective future? It is time for us to debate the benefits of ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika’ in the context of the world of technology. Now there is food for thought!”
